My vote is for Dr. Jaya Prakash Narayan. He has done good things as a doctor and then as a collector in AP.
Of course he stands no chance, but I think he started a movement (grassroots) - hopefully it is the beginning of some positive change.

Enforce country cap on Family based GC/DV lotterry for the diversity sake. FYI India and China don't have access to DV Lottery. This system is insane and let's not fight among ourselves to defend this crappy immigration system. . U may see ROW retrogress to 1998 in next VB and what will u say then ?. Bottom line is Fighting will not take us anywhere and changing this unpredictable system will be the only way to go.

At some point I will have to decide whether to begin the H1b renewal process again.

I understand that there is concern about people from visitor visa category (Tourist B1 B2)would be filing for green cards and that shall cause the retrogression to be perpetual...a few adjustments to the applicable statute can rectify that...

I think as someone said this guy was randomly throwing numbers out there. How come his analysis does not account for remaining 36K EB1 and EB2 ROW applications. Is he suggesting that all EB1 and EB2 ROW are being used up also. Very hard to believe that for 2008 and 2009 with the way the economy is going. Lot of product companies where most of the ROW 485s would likely come from have stopped applying perm since last summer. There is a huge flaw in this analysis and its not as pessimistic as it seems.
BUT, then again we need legislation to wipe the slate clean and clear these 200K applications, so there is a new build up of visa demand and wait times are tolerable for current applicants and future applicants.

Thank you for your personal opinion. India was doing well when Vajpayee was PM. He is not some management honcho. It is a vision of the person that is more important. Manmohan is a learned man and has provided country with real good service but real power rests with Sonia and her son Rahul.
Hence. Its a question of ideology in the long run and given my background, BJP govt suits me better than Congress. So I prefer Advani over Sonia.

People from the best colleges in their countries come to work in addition to people from "normal" colleges from their countries. Where does India's top colleges stand compared to the best colleges around the world? IITs according to some rankings are not even in the top 200 colleges. Does that mean we exclude them altogether? Where does that leave BITS Pilani? Stop harping on that qualifications theme. I know people from both Bombay University and IIT kanpur Eb2 2003 waiting still for their GCs in the same company and same department. Workwise both are similarly capable.

I pity people who have coming to USA is foremost objective. In my case, i came to USA 7 years ago. Atleast i earned few bucks. But people who are dreaming about USA and taking education loans with the intention to payoff once they land in USA. It also includes people coming here on F1 with intention to work here.
