How does the current company obtain a pre-approved labor? Does it buy the pre-app labour? Or is it SOLELY because someone in the company left (whose labor was approved)?
I was reading a lot about the controversy about why it should be stopped etc so i was wondering if someone had any documentation on why it was started in the first place and how it works

This is actually a pretty good argument/statistic. However; it isn't specific to employment base but rather to worldwide level of immigration from all sources.
In my opinion, it is more relevant to EB immigration....To support a higher number of benefit recipient you need a higher number of EB immigrant who are more likely to be productive that FB immigrants.....
Now that is equivalent of passing judgment on FB immigrants as being unproductive.....I know I am going to get flak on that...

In the absence (to our knowledge) of USCIS URL, it is not possoble to say that dates can not retrogress in the middle of a month. For example, USCIS has no rule of time period between switching jobs. This means they can do whatever they feel like.
I am saying that 2007 GCs can get exhausted at any time independent of I-485s received/approved.

I completely agree with you that we should never forget our roots or our motherland. India is far better than US when it comes to family values and many other things. However, this story has nothing to do about standing up for our own country/motherland. Every person who has a common name with terrorist names has had troubles at POE since 9/11. So who cares if he is SRK or anyone for that matter. When Colin Powell was the chief of security under Bush administration he had to go through airport security just like any other common person. The TSA here in US treats everyone the same. Do you think ministers or celebrities in India follow any security procedures ? Every now and then you hear of ministers and celebrities involved in smuggling scandals.
There are good and bad things about every nation. IMHO, security procedures in US are the far better than India and apply the same way to everyone unlike in India. If you are so concerned about standing up for your motherland, what are you doing in the US ? Should I be calling you a traitor ? My current EAD expires on Aug 13th 2008. I currently working on EAD. I applied EAD 110 days before and my EAD was approved and card production ordered on June 25th 2008. I still did not receive my EAD in the mail.
Since I am working on EAD what are my options or what do I need to do if I did not receive my EAD in time.

It's a strange fact that he came back to power.
The guy, his son and his team have been looting, destroying, killing (political killings) on the scales of mafia never ever seen in the history of AP.
I repeat that again. Good riddance. Wish his Son was also part of the chopper trip...that would have been complete liberation.
For “dealsnet”, politicians are diplomatic, that is how they have to be, and behind their minds they might have a different plan and agenda. Why should we anonymous people be diplomatic? And why should we be afraid to speak?

I already have a house here and am not planning to buy another by putting 20% down payment. But I support this idea, because, it might take away a couple of 100 people from the queue.
Plus, such a letter is indicating to the Congress that we are ready to give the country a helping hand when she needs our help the most.
I hope you would reconsider your position.

Guys, I've heard (and only heard - don't red me now) that Cognizant has its H-1Bs being rejected and I've heard as far as this that some of the people in Cognizant who got green card through EB-1 category have been deported due to investigation after complaints regarding misuse of EB-1 category by these companies.

My intention was not to devalue the merits of the incoming batch of immigrants. As I said, around 20% of the group are truly the best and the brightest. This was the case after the dotcom crash and will most likely be the case going forward. We had the same delays, retrogressions , guaranteed employment verification RFEs etc. Immigrationportal.com used to be the immigrationvoice of the times. I do not see much difference for the techies between what was then and what is going on now in terms of delays. I see 2 dramatic changes though
1. People arent patient enough during these times. You would agree to the amount of venting going on in this site.
2. The incessant dumping of low cost of L1s by the outsourcing companies.
If you think through deeply, the second point is what is causing all the heartburn among the people waiting for their GCs. Believe me. All these extrapolated timelines that scream that getting GC today would take 10 years are all bogus. These headlines were the same then too. I can confidently say that the GC process will move fast within a year's time once the layoffs stop. It is just that can you survive till the govt policies become more rational ? That is where the argument about the best and the brightest come into place. If you are one, you would survive this and you will get your GC within 3 years. Honestly, my ntention was to calm the nerves of those people genuinely talented and waiting for their GCs. If I had missed out on that count, I think I should improve my communication. My husband is a GC holder. For some family reasons we would like to stay in INDIA for couple of years(or maximum time we can). I know we have to apply for a reentry permit. Is it a tough one to get and how early should we apply for it.

Actually, they are not predicting anything. All he is saying is that it has happened before to "other worker" category and it can happen again to EB categories.

Thats the million dollar question right now.
Everything that people have said here suggests that EB3-ROW should be leaping forward.
It had been moving forward at the rate of 2 months / month (in one month, the date would move ahead by two months.) Then it slowed down to a month/month. And then in December, it just stopped.
The black hole called USCIS, from which no data can escape, says there is high demand of visa numbers even in the EB-3 ROW.
Maybe all this demand is coming from those other black holes, the backlog elimination centers.
After reading through the forums, I understand the EB3-World needs to become current for any others to move forward.
But now I notice that EB3-World itself has stopped moving after jumping for some months. Any reasons? (The 245i is already cleared and now it is in Aug 02)
Is there any other 245is preventing it????

Its just that you chose not to leave. The correct description of the situation is - you are imposing slavery upon yourself and asking for remedy from the government. Isn't that correct? Jazzy is simply saying that you can leave if you don't like it. So you are not a slave. Its that simple.

If I have come here to work and you have things setup in a way that it can be used to exploit you ( e.g. employer holding back your pay for no valid reason) that amounts to indirectly supporting slave business. But the trouble they are going through is similar to that of the slaves that were taken by the brits in olden days for working at different places in their colonies.
