Deviled eggs | Best Basic Deviled Eggs Recipe

Deviled eggs or eggs mimosa are hard-boiled eggs cut in half and filled with the hard-boiled egg's yolk mixed usually with mayonnaise and mustard. Deviled eggs are usually served cold. They are served as a side dish, appetizer or a main course, and are a common holiday or party food.

deviled eggs
The deviled egg originated in ancient Rome according to the show The Secret Life Of.... They are still popular across the continent of Europe. In France they are called œuf mimosa; in Hungary, töltött tojás or kaszinó tojás; in Romania, ouă umplute, in The Netherlands gevuld ei ("stuffed eggs"). In Belgium, The Netherlands and Germany sometimes a variation is served known as "Russian Eggs", where the eggs are filled with caviar and served in rémoulade sauce. The title "Russian Eggs" comes from the presence of the caviar. Deviled eggs are a common dish in the United States. In the Midwestern and Southern U.S., they are commonly served as hors d'oeuvres before a full meal is served, often during the summer months. Deviled eggs are so popular in the United States that special carrying trays are sold specifically for them. Prepared and packaged deviled eggs are now available in some U.S. supermarkets.

The term "deviled," in reference to food, was in use in the 18th century, with the first known print reference appearing in 1786. In the 19th century, it came to be used most often with spicy or zesty food, including eggs prepared with mustard, pepper or other ingredients stuffed in the yolk cavity.
In some parts of the Southern and Midwestern United States, the terms "salad eggs" or "dressed eggs" are used, particularly when the dish is served in connection with a church function - presumably to avoid dignifying the word "deviled."

Best Basic Deviled Eggs Recipe

6 eggs, hard cooked and peeled
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1 teaspoon yellow mustard
3/4 teaspoon white wine vinegar
pinch of salt (optional)
fresh ground black pepper (optional)
smoked paprika (optional)

Cut eggs in half. Arrange egg whites cut side up on a serving plate and put the yolks in a small mixing bowl. Mash yolks with fork then stir in mayonnaise, mustard, and vinegar. Mash and stir all ingredients together well. Taste and add salt and pepper if desired. Spoon a little bit of the mixture into each egg white half, dividing mixture as evenly as possible between the eggs. Sprinkle eggs with smoked paprika if desired. Serve immediately or refrigerate until ready to serve.

Yield: 12 deviled eggs

Notes: As mentioned earlier, mixture may be piped into the eggs using a pastry bag instead of using a spoon. Recipe can easily be doubled. I always make my deviled eggs with Best Foods Mayonnaise (aka Hellmans) and just regular yellow mustard. If you don’t have white wine vinegar, just use your favorite kind or whatever you have on hand. If you don’t have smoked paprika, just use the regular kind. I suggest that after the first time you make these, don’t bother with the recipe and just add things to taste like I normally do–it’s more fun and then you don’t have to clean the measuring cup and spoons!

The Voice | NBC’s new talent show

NBC revealed that it will add more star-power to its new vocal competition series “The Voice” with singers Reba, Monica, Sia (Furler) and music producer Adam Blackstone joining the series as new advisers who will lend their experience and talents to musician coaches Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton for the next “Battles” competition phase.

"No it isn’t a collaboration for the MTV Music Awards, this is how NBC’s new talent show The Voice kicked off this week.

"

“The Voice” next airs Tuesday, May 3 (9-11 p.m. ET) and then will be broadcast from 10-11 p.m. (ET) each Tuesday night on May 10, May 17 and May 24 following new episodes of “The Biggest Loser” (Tuesdays, 8-10 p.m. ET).

Aguilera will team up with singer/songwriter Sia, Levine with Maroon 5 Music Director Blackstone, Green with singer Monica and Shelton with veteran singer Reba -- eventually cutting their teams in half by pitting two of their own artists against each other in a series of dueling duets.

Each of the musician coaches chose their advisers to help them at the next “Battles” stage that lasts across four episodes. Reba, Monica, Sia and Blackstone were picked because they are in the trusted inner circle of the respective musician coach that they are helping. They are being brought in by the musician coaches to bring out the best in each of their artists, help to select songs that suit specific vocal styles and provide advice for performance. These adviser rosters will expand when the competition moves on to the live performance stage.

Frenchie Davis | Perform again in NBC's

Former American Idol contestant Frenchie Davis has returned to reality television in NBC's new singing competition, The Voice, which premiered Tuesday. Frenchie, who was booted from Idol when racy pictures of her surfaced during the second season, wound up on Christina Aguilera's team.

• Jennifer Lopez will provide the voice of a female sabre-tooth tiger in Ice Age 4, says The Hollywood Reporter. The tiger, named Shira, will be a love interest for Diego, one of the main Ice Age characters.

• Justin Guarini and wife Reina Capodici have a son, William Neko Bell Guarini. Born early Tuesday morning, the boy weighed 7 lbs., 2 oz. "With a full head of curly brown hair, wide open and alert eyes, he came charging into the world," Justin tells People.

The Royal Wedding Of Prince Charles and Lady Diana 1981

The Royal Wedding Of Prince Charles and Lady Diana 1981

It was 29 years ago today, on July 29, 1981, that the world was captivated by the royal wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer. A global media event, it was televised live and watched by hundreds of millions of people. It was a fairytale wedding, one that would later give way to tabloid headlines about infidelity, including Diana’s admission in 1995 of her infidelity in an amazingly vulnerable and powerful interview on the BBC (see video), and taped conversations of Charles in love talk with Camilla Parker Bowles, whom he would later marry. Charles and Diana would separate in 1992 and divorce in 1996. Just one year and three days after the divorce was finalized, Diana would die in an automobile crash in Paris with Dodi Fayed, son of Harrod’s owner Mohamed al-Fayed. The outpouring of grief over death was immediate and wrenching, and it is estimated that some 2.5 billion people around the world watched her funeral.

This photo captures the couple on their return to Buckingham Palace after their wedding, Diana’s smile and innocence captured so well by the photographer.

Prince William and Catherine Middleton Are Married (Photos)

Prince William and Catherine Middleton Are Married (Photos)

With the entire world watching, Prince William and Catherine Middleton became husband and wife Friday morning – and the newly ennobled Duke and Duchess of Cambridge – at London’s Westminster Abbey.
The wedding, pegged the greatest and grandest royal affair since Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s 1981 nuptials, is the fairy-tale ending to a love story thrust into the spotlight last November when the couple first announced their engagement.

“I, William Arthur Philip Louis, take thee, Catherine Elizabeth, to my wedded wife, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse,” William vowed. “For richer, for poorer. In sickness and in health. To love and to cherish, till death us do part.”
With brother and best man Prince Harry, sporting the uniform of Captain of the Household Cavalry, by his side, William, 28, wearing the scarlet uniform of the Colonel of the Irish Guards, slipped a traditional Welsh gold wedding band on Middleton’s finger, saying, “With this ring, I thee wed.”
The couple also wrote their own prayer for the occasion. “God our Father, we thank you for our families; for the love that we share and for the joy of our marriage,” they said. “In the busyness of each day keep our eyes fixed on what is real and important in life and help us to be generous with our time and love and energy. Strengthened by our union help us to serve and comfort those who suffer”

Royal newlyweds share first public kiss

Prince William & Kate balcony kisses complete wedding

If you looked away from the screen for a moment, you probably missed it. It was a quick smooch. Kate turned to her groom, said something with a smile, and the prince reached over, rather hurriedly, and gave her a very quick kiss.

Maybe that's why he kissed her again.
The second kiss came just before the Royal Air Force flyover. Another first on a historic day: two kisses on the Buckingham Palace balcony by a newly married royal couple.

All eyes were on Prince William and Kate as they emerged from the palace onto the  balcony. Many among the boisterous gathered crowd and those watching around the world surely had one defining image in their minds: Princess Diana and Prince Charles' memorable wedding kiss.
It wasn’t traditional for royal couples to kiss in public following their weddings before the summer of 1981. And Prince Charles reportedly resisted breaking tradition when the crowds outside Buckingham Palace that historic July morning called out for them to kiss.
“I am not going to do that caper. They are trying to get us to kiss,” he said to Diana.
Diana’s reported response: “Well, how about it?” The prince hesitated, then said “Why ever not?”

And this image lives on as proof.
Sadly, the marriage did not live up to the sweetness of that first public kiss. And because of that, there is a lifetime of hope wrapped up in today’s royal smooch. The world wishes so much better for this young couple. They have come to marriage older, wiser, and by all accounts, truly in love.
The grand balcony has been the stage for vaulted royal appearances since 1851, when Queen Victoria stepped out onto it during celebrations for the Great Exhibition in Hyde Park, London. The Great Exhibition was the first in a series of World’s Fair displays of culture and industry and attended by the likes of Charles Darwin and Charlotte Brontë.
Princess Anne was the first of Queen Elizabeth’s newly wed children to appear on the balcony with her new spouse, Captain Mark Phillips, in 1973. But they did not kiss.
Neither did Prince Edward and Sophie Wessex on their 1999 wedding day, though Prince Andrew did follow his elder brother’s lead when he kissed the Duchess of York on the balcony on their wedding day in 1986.
A new iconic royal kiss image is born. Long live the marriage.
